It took a little bit over 2 seasons in the NBA, over 190 games, but he did it. Ben Simmons made his first career three pointer versus the Knicks.
Obviously, the social media erupted, and everyone is going crazy about this former ROY’s first 3 point make.
23-year old Simmons took only long range heaves at the end of quarters until now, when he finally scored from distance.
His coach Brett Brown reacted and said:
“Like I’ve said for a while now, other people get more excited about it than I do. But how can that not be a good thing? And really, if we’re all honest, that’s the first legitimate sort of 3 he’s taken. A lot of them have been heaves at the end of periods and stuff like that. But I think his footwork, his confidence — he rose up and he didn’t blink.“He looked great.”Via Tim Bontemps of ESPN
Joel Embiid also had something to say:
“We need him to shoot, it’s great to see him make it, take it, most importantly make it. That’s great. He’s going to keep getting better and make it happen. But it was nothing special. We see it in practice. We’ve seen it a lot, so it’s not surprising to me.”
Sixers point guard didn’t have the best start of the season averaging only 14 points, but this moment might be te turning point of his season.
