NBA Recap: 23rd of October 2019

Charlotte Hornets started the season very well with a close win against young Chicago Bulls (126-125). They were led by rookie PJ Washington, who dropped 27 points on his professional debut. He also had great help from DeVonte Graham(23 points) and Dwayne Bacon (22 pts.) Lauri Markannen kept Bulls in the game with his monster perfomance (35 points and 17 rebounds) but that was not enough to get a win in Spectrum center. Coby White also had a great debut with 17 points and 7 assists of the bench. Hornets had ridiculous shooting night, finishing with 23 threes, their new franchise record during the game without overtimes.

Pistons looked very strong in their win in Indianapolis versus the Pacers 129-120. Andre Drummond and Luke Kennard combined for 62 points, and Dre also grabbed 23 rebounds. Derrick Rose scored 18 points and dished out 9 assists from the bench. Pacers frontcourt duo Sabonis-Turner played great and combined for 52 points and 24 rebounds. Malcolm Brogdon (22 points and 11 assists), Jeremy Lamb (10 points) and TJ Warren (10 points) also made their debuts with their new team.

Magic won against Cavs (94-85) despite very bad perfomance from both teams. Vučevic had 21 points and continued to perform like last season. Fournier finished with 16 points while Markelle Fultz finally came back, after almost a full year of not playing basketball. He dropped 12 points and 6 assists from the bench. Cavs had Sexton and TT with 16 points each.

Sixers managed to get a win versus the Celtics in tough season opener. Wells Fargo Center was electric as always, and fans went home happy after great Sixers performance (107-93). Ben Simmons had a near triple double perfomance (24,9,8), and the rest of starting lineup was fairly good, but Sixers only had 20 points off the bench. Celtics were led by Gordon Hayward (25 pts) and Jayson Tatum (21pts and 10 rebs.)

Mavericks dynamic duo showed off in their first game together. Dončić (34 pts 9 rebs) and Porzingis (23 pts) were just too much for Wizards, that had bad shooting night, with Beal being the best scorer with 19 points while shooting 28% from the field.

Duel of strong teams on west, Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets(100-108). Damian Lillard wasn’t enough to carry his team to victory , he scored 32 points. Denver had a great game, 56% from the 3-point line versus Portland’s 25%. MPJ still didn’t get a time to play, but its going to be great asset for Nuggets in the future , young, all around player with huge talent. Important victory for the start of the season for young Nuggets.

Great night with a lot of games. Brooklyn Nets hosted Minnesota Timberwolves and lost after overtime(126-127). Kyrie Irving’s debut was fantastic. He is fourth player to score 50 points without a turnover. Caris LeVert helped his team with 20 points but it wasn’t enough. On the other side Karl-Anthony Towns dropped 36 points (7/11 from the 3-point) and caught 14 rebounds, Andrew Wiggins followed him with 21 points.

In Texas, Spurs have beaten NYK (120-111). Gregg Popovich made history, 24 years on bench for San Antonio. Spurs’s backcourt with D. Murray and B. Forbes scored 38 points and L. Aldridge got 22 points. New York Knight got new leader in RJ Barrett, third pick in 2019.draft. Julius Randle and Marcus Morris combined for 51 points and 15 rebounds.

Close game between Miami Heat and Memphis Grizzlies, close until fourth quarter. Last quarter Miami won with 37-17 and won the game (120-101). Justise Winslow and Kendrick Nunn lead Miami for the win. Tyler Herro and Ja Morant  debuted with 14 points each.

As expected, Utah Jazz won against rebuilding OKC(100-95). Mitchell continues to grow as a leader with 32p, 12r. Mike Conley in the other hand was a disaster, 5 points with 1/16. Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played very good. 26 points for the young hope and 22 points of the veteran.

Biggest surprise of the night happened in Arizona  where Phoenix Suns defeated Sacramento Kings by 29 points(124-95). Starting lineup of Suns outscored Sacramento’s by 14. Hield proved that he deserved that contract. They also had 26 turnovers and that was maybe the main reason they lost.
