Cedevita Olimpija beat Zagreb’s Cibona by 79:70 in the second round of the ABA League in Ljubljana, thus registering for the second consecutive victory in the regional competition!
The team recorded a second consecutive win in the ABA League on the home floor against the reigning champion of Croatia. The second round was also marked by a tribute to one of the best Slovenian basketball players of all time, Ivo Daneu, who celebrated his 82nd birthday a week ago, and the Dragons campaign in cooperation with EuropaDonna Slovenia.
KK Cedevita Olimpija showcased their potential in the first half playing fast-pace basketball with high-intensity defense causing Cibona to shot only 33% from the field. It seemed like Zmajevi will take the win quite easily. Nonetheless, in the second half, the Dragons fell slightly in the game and Cibona managed to come close to just two points difference (63:65), and the responsibility was taken over by Codi Miller-McIntyre, Ryan Boatright and Marko Simonović, who again tipped the scales to the home team.
Mikael Hopkins landed a touchdown on a clear 79-70 victory. Miller-McIntyre was the most efficient in Slaven Rimac‘s squad, adding six passes and four rebounds to his 24 points, followed by Jaka Blažič, who recorded 12 points and five rebounds.
On Tuesday morning, Cedevita Olimpija will travel to the Italian city of Brescia, where the Ljubljana team will take on Germani Brescia at 8:45 pm on Wednesday, seeking to register their first victory in the 7Days EuroCup.
