Laver Cup

Third edition of Laver Cup is behind us. Team Europe successfully defended their title for a second consecutive year. Thiem, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Nadal, Federer and Fognini won 13-11 against Team World: Fritz, Isner, Sock, Kyrgios, Raonic and Shapovalov. The first team to 13 points wins.

On first day each win is worth one point. On day 2, two points and on day 3, three points. On the first day, Team Europe got 3 points due to wins from Thiem (vs. Shapovalov), Tsitsipas(vs. Fritz) and Federer/Zverev (vs.Shapovalov/Sock). First point for Team World was brought by Jack Sock with a win versus Fabio Fognini. Result at the end of Day 1 was 3-1 for Team Europe.

Day two was more equal, both teams got 2 wins or 4 points. Federer beat Kyrgios and Nadal won versus Raonic and brought points for Europe. Isner against Zverev and Kyrgios/Sock against Nadal/Tsitsipas got points for Team World. Result at the end of Day 2 was 7-5.

Final day was very interesting. Team World came back with two wins: Isner/Sock vs. Federer/Tsitsipas and Fritz vs. Thiem. World was in lead before last two games. But then, Federer beating Isner and Zverev outperforming Raonic finished the job, making final result 13-11 for Team Europe.
