This is the 139th edition of the tournament. Although the tennis season is coming to an end, fans will enjoy in exciting and strong US Open. Is it time for NextGen players to spark, or the big trio will dominate again? Main favourites for winning the tournament are of course, Djoković, Federer and Nadal. Young talents like Thiem, Tsitsipas and Zverev can beat anyone but also can disappoint their fans easily. There are many players who can suprise due their recent form on hard court. One of them is Hubert Hurkacz. Polish has won his first ATP title of his carrer in Winston Salem last week. Not to mention that Daniil Medvedev is in great shape. He beat Djokovic and Goffin for his first Masters title in Cincinnati. He has also beat Thiem and Khachanov in Rogers Cup. Medvedev is going to be dangerous in US Open. Andrei Rublev is in great form, too. Roger Federer will have a chance to take the 6th title and that would be a record for the open era, Fedex is now even with Connors and Sampras with 5 titles. Novak Djokovic is first seeded and he is current champion with 3 titles already in his pocket, same as Rafa Nadal. Active champions who will participate in 2019. tournament are Stan Wawrinka and Marin Čilić. There are a lot of tough matches in 1st round of the tournament: Hurkacz-Chardy, Đere-Kecmanović, Fucsovics-Basilashvili, Tsitispas-Rublev, Shapovalov-Auger-Aliassime and so on.

Women’s tournament is very hard to predict just like the whole season is- unpredictable. Naomi Osaka is first seeded in this year’s draw, Barty is second and Karolina Pliškova third. Osaka, Ashleigh Barty, Karolina Pliškova and Simona Halep are in contention for the WTA No. 1 singles ranking. Will Serena make a surprise this year and make domestic fans happy? One thing is safe, it is going to be very interesting and unpredictable tournament. There are few „dark horses“ of the Open. Young Greek star Maria Sakkari can ruin plans for everyone, just like Sofia Kenin and Anett Kontaveit. There are some good matches in woman draw, too. Serena Williams is playing against Maria Sharapova, which is certainly best match in the first round. Teenager Coco Gauff will play versus Anastasia Potapova. All in all, this year’s tournament is going to be interesting and must watch.
